Recycling of Precast Concrete Waste Sludge With Paper Mill and Biomass Ashes for Lightweight Granulated Aggregate Production

The construction and demolition waste generation is increasingly evolving with the rapid urbanization, more than a quarter of produced being landfilled without further treatment or recycling strategy. Hence, sustainable management valorization methods such as in materials becoming essential to tackle economic environmental burdens landfilling waste. Construction has been intensively studied. However, present study proposes promising solution for wastes (CDWs) from precast concrete sludge ashes paper mill biomass. Artificial lightweight aggregates were designed by alkali activating mixture 50–90 wt% dried milled CDW 3–25 ash 5–35 blast furnace slag. properties assessed via density, water absorption, porosity, crushing tests, addition microstructural characterizations using XRD scanning electron microscopy SEM analysis. optimum NaOH concentration was 8M highest mechanical lowest efflorescence. revealed high force 82 N at 28 days 50 CDW, 15 biomass ash, 25 slag presenting possible pathway side-stream materials.
